Do you own a business and feel that it could grow more if you personally would improve?
Do you feel that personal issues are impacting your business?
Do you have complicated relationships that are stalling your business growth?
Are you convinced that your business can get to the next level if you just could get yourself together?
Do you have great ideas for your business that you just can’t seem to put into action?
Business owners wear many hats. They may juggle between being a spouse, owner, employer, parent, and a plethora of other hats. You may feel the struggle between keeping all the plates spinning. Owning a business can be exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. You may feel overwhelmed by all the responsibilities you have. The “work day” never ends at the end of the day. They bring their work home with them. They may be worried about the performance of their business or potentially laying off workers. It’s common to feel worried that things will always feel this out of control. It’s normal for business owners to feel emotionally drained and tired most of the time.
New Jersey Family and Addiction Institute Offers Support and Guidance for You and Your Family
Counseling can be very helpful to help you and your business start to move forward. It can provide immediate relief at home and focus at work. The New Jersey Family and Addiction Institute will work in partnership with you to determine why you are feeling what you feel and what to do moving forward. Our team has extensive business backgrounds which can help create an environment where you feel more understood.
We will work together to help you figure out how to juggle everything and move your business forward with intent and purpose. We can help you figure out how to stop fighting fires at work and how to move in the direction you want to move with your business. We will look at how personal struggles are impacting your business and how to mitigate them. By partnering with you we can assess what is working and not working both personally and professionally.
But, you still may have questions or concerns….
I am stressed about my business. How the hell is counseling going to help that?
Owning a business is stressful to say the least. As a business owner, success or failure is dependent on you. Business owners can wear many hats. As their business grows their attention can start to get split. Stress starts to increase. Now stress isn’t always a bad thing. It can keep us motivated to move forward. However sustained stress can have a negative impact on your personal life and make it difficult to see how to move forward. Counseling can help reduce stress and allow business owners to stop fighting fires. As business owners stop putting out fires they can start to focus again on how to grow their business. Counseling can also help owners clarify their inner vision for their business.
So I get that counseling is good. But I don’t want to have to explain business concepts to my counselor all the time.
This is a legitimate concern. One of the main reasons that people don’t see out counseling is that they feel they won’t be understood. As a business owner you may feel that there is no way a counselor understands the stress of meeting payroll or being torn about increasing revenue versus increasing profitability. Many of our clients are business owners. They are always thrilled to learn that we understand the unique difficulties of being a business owner. This is because we have extensive experience in business operations. We are able to provide counseling from both a personal and business perspective.
Counseling can take a lot of time and it isn’t cheap. I’m not sure it’s worth it and I am bootstrapping my business.
Counseling is an investment in your overall well-being. Split focus and heightened stress can both contribute to business failure. While therapy isn’t cheap, having a clearer mind and vision can dramatically help your focus on your business. A good question to ask yourself is “how much is my lack of focus or inability to move that next project forward costing me?” Likely it is significantly more than the cost of counseling.
