New Jersey Family and Addiction Institute Offers Support and Guidance for You and Your Family
Counseling can be very helpful in starting to move forward. It can provide immediate relief from the anxiety you are feeling. The New Jersey Family and Addiction Institute team will work with you to determine the root cause of what you are experiencing. Maybe it stems from a particular event, experience, or part of your life. Or maybe it is pervasive and is overwhelming to the point that identifying a cause seems difficult. Regardless we are here to help so that you do not need to feel this way anymore. Together we will explore everything and come up with practical treatment options.
Your therapist can assess your anxiety in order to create a treatment plan with realistic expectations and clear steps. Additionally, your therapist will provide concrete skill and tools for creating an environment which supports you.
Your therapist will work with you to help you recognize why you feel what they feel when you feel it. You can learn words to label and share your feelings in a constructive manner, while also developing tools to help manage disappointment, stress, and frustration. Through conversation your therapist can help you identify your strengths and weaknesses. Together we can leverage your strengths and identify clear steps to address your weaknesses. This can help you think more positively and act with more confidence. In our sessions together we will focus on emotional intelligence, arming you with tools to help you navigate stress and adversity throughout our time together and throughout your life.
But, you still may have questions or concerns….
Counseling can take a lot of time and it isn’t cheap. I’m not sure it’s worth it.
Therapy is an investment in your overall well-being. Intense or misunderstood emotions can negatively impact your life and your loved ones. They can create conflicts and feelings of being misunderstood at work, home, or school. Investing in yourself can create the opportunity for you to work through difficult emotions or experiences which can produce a sense of relief. When you start to feel better your performance at work or school and within the home can improve, benefiting all aspects of your life.
I’m afraid that counseling isn’t going to be able to help me. I’ve felt this way for so long.
If you have felt this way for so long and nothing has seemed to help so far it’s natural to have concern that nothing will improve it. This is a very common fear that we have seen with clients that we have worked with. Just because you have felt this way for so long doesn’t mean that you need to feel this way going forward. Many of our clients start counseling with this fear and it naturally goes away over the course of our time together as they start to grow and change. Anxiety is a natural experience but it does not need to be with us forever. With proper tools and effective counseling, it can go away and you can be the version of yourself that you were or always wanted to be.
I think I am just going through a phase and hope that this will just eventually go away on its own.
